Starting from 24th October, 2020, you will need to use Facebook Developer app credentials to embed Facebook posts and Instagram images on WordPress. This is due to a major change in Facebook API. To help you fix this issue, you can connect Facebook and Instagram with EmbedPress to easily embed your Facebook and Instagram content on your website.Â
To embed your Facebook and Instagram posts on your website with EmbedPress, you have to collect your App ID and App Secret. Follow these steps below to do this.
First, you need to create an app on Facebook Developers to get your Facebook or Instagram access tokens. To do this, you have to login to your Facebook profile and go to Facebook Developers Account. Once you are logged in, you need to add a new app as shown below.
Next, you will see a popup window appear. Here, you have to select what you want your app to do. In this case, you have to choose the âSomething Elseâ option and click on the âContinueâ button.
After this step, you have to enter your âApp Display Nameâ and then click on the âCreate Appâ button. You may be asked to perform a security check.
You have now successfully created a new app on Facebook Developers.
After creating an app, you will be redirected to a new page. Scroll down until you see âoEmbedâ and click on the âSet Upâ button to get started. A popup will appear to confirm your acceptance of oEmbed. Make sure to check the box and click on the âConfirmâ button to continue.
Next, navigate to Settingsâ Basic from your dashboard. Enter the âPrivacy Policy URLâ of your website and click on âSave Changes’.
Afterwards, toggle the âIn Developmentâ option at the very top of the page to switch your app to live mode. Make sure to select âBusiness and Pagesâ from the âCategoryâ dropdown menu and click on the âSwitch Modeâ button.
Your app is now live. Copy your âApp IDâ and your âApp Secretâ. You will need these to connect Facebook and Instagram with EmbedPress.
After retrieving your App ID and App Secret for Facebook and Instagram, head over to your WordPress dashboard and navigate to EmbedPressâ General Settings as shown below. Enter your App ID and App Secret in the respective fields. Click on the âSave Changesâ button when you are done.
With these easy steps, you can connect Facebook and Instagram with EmbedPress. You can now embed Facebook posts or Instagram images with just the URL of your social media posts.
